Benefits and Types of Yard Vacuums
Depending on the size of your lawn or yard, you may consider getting a yard vacuum to clean up leaves, sticks, or debris. Depending on your needs, you can also get a lawn vacuum that has the ability to shred or doubles as a chipper. As a kid growing up, I despised having to rake the leaves so these lawn and garden tools have always fascinated me. I use a hand held lawn vacuum (which is basically a leaf blower ran in reverse with a bag attached) and love it. Although the bag fills up quick which sort of stinks and most times I end up raking anyway. If I had the resources I would definitely think about purchasing one of the nicer yard vacuums.
Lawn vacuums come in three basic varieties. Hand-held or carried, push, or towed vacuums are the three basic kinds you'll come across when shopping for vacuums.
The hand-held style are just like what I have and are basically a leaf blower which doubles as a vacuum. Think of them as small shop vacs attached to a hand-held machine with a bag for collecting. These work pretty good because you can get them into hard to reach places like along fence lines and behind bushes. The downside to these is that the bags aren't very big and thus they fill up quickly. It can be frustrating to have to stop every few minutes to dump the bag. I like using mine but sometimes I rake them all into a pile first them suck them up with the vacuum. Obviously these are the least expensive of the yard vacuums but can be found for less than 0 at most lawn and garden shops or definitely online.
Push yard vacuums are pretty much just like a push lawn mower. They look basically the same by most standards but act like a big vacuum (which I guess they are really) that you push across your lawn. Some of these are nice because they even have chippers or shredders as part of them but due to the motor size they don't work well for shredding larger limbs. This range in price from around 0 up which makes them pretty expensive for the average home owner.

Biodegradable Utensils Make for Great Composting
Summer's just around the corner and you know what that means - barbeques, family gatherings, picnics, beach parties, and even more barbeques! This is the time of year that all your good dishware and silverware stay in their cupboards and drawers and you utilize nothing but disposable plates and cutlery. But did you ever consider how much waste that adds up at all the landfills? So many plastic utensils end up piling up landfills and aren't being recycled, because who would even think to recycle that? A better alternative that does the job and is good for the environment that's now catching on in the market is biodegradable cutlery.
Made from corn starch and other biodegradable "plastic" fillers, eco-friendly utensils are on the rise in popularity. Contrary to belief, they will not fall apart on you if you use them in hot items like soups, and they will not break if you use them in cold foods or desserts like ice cream. Biodegradable utensils work like their normal plastic counterparts; the only difference is that they won't pile up in landfills and can even be used in your compost bins.
For the avid gardener who likes to compost, these eco-friendly utensils can be highly beneficial to your garden. After you're done using these utensils, toss them into your compost bin or heap instead of the trash can. In most cases, the packaging that the utensils come in is also biodegradable, which means you can add that into your compost bin, too.
Since they're made out of corn starch and other eco-friendly materials, these biodegradable utensils will not harm your compost heap, adding to your nutrient-rich compost. Do keep in mind that if you plan to toss these utensils into your compost bin that it can take anywhere from six to 18 months for them to fully decompose.
So the next time you're planning your big summer barbeque or food outing, consider using the eco-friendly alternative versus the regular plastic ware. Not only would you be reducing waste at landfills and giving back to the earth's soil, you'll feel good knowing that you're doing your part to protect the earth while enjoying the barbeque.

The Many Applications of Chip Shredders
Chip shredders are heavy-duty tools with a variety of uses. They are used to rid yards of leaves and other debris and they can quickly and safely break down a tree branch into tiny wood chips that can be used for mulch or compost. Chip shredders come in a variety of sizes, from small, electric ones used on small personal lawns, to large gas powered chip shredders perfect for use on a vast field. Some electric chip shredders go for as little as 0, while top of the line, heavy duty, gasoline powered models can cost as much as 00.
Chip shredders usually have two chutes; one for shredding plant stalks and leaves, and the other made for shredding tree branches. The items are shredded with hammers and flails at the end of the chutes. Generally, better models have more flails and hammers and can chip and shred things into tiny pieces.
Chip shredders are good for lawns. They can vacuum leaves and debris and eliminate the need to rake the yard. The small particles created by the chip shredders can be added to a compost pile or used for mulch. For most lawns, an electric chip shredder is fine. They are efficient for leaves and small tree branches. For large lawns or fields, it is advisable to purchase a gasoline powered chip shredder that is larger and more powerful.
Chip shredders are also great tools for people who prune trees. It is difficult and time consuming to dispose of large tree branches that are cut off of trees. Chip shredders can cut the branches down into particles the size of coins. The chips can then easily be put into bags and thrown away, or saved and used for compost. It is vital to use the chip shredders for their intended purpose; it is a bad idea to overload the shredder or stuff it with branches that are too big for it. Chip shredders can clog and shoot out sharp debris if they are overloaded.
It is important to follow safety precautions when using chip shredders. They are very loud, so earplugs could be a good idea. It is vital to wear goggles, because shredders can send debris in all directions. People should never stick their hands or arms in the chipper while it is turned on as the danger of losing a limb (or worse) is extremely high.
Chip shredders are valuable tools that need to be used carefully. When operated properly they make difficult yard work much easier.

There are numerous different instruments and machines that a backyard or a garden requires so as to be maintained in a beautiful way.
Lawn Mowers
The first and the most important of lawn and garden equipment are the lawn mowers for doing horizontal grass cutting all through the lawn or the garden. Now it will depend on the dimensions of your lawn/garden which form of a lawn mower you'll want to be going for. If it is a small holding, walk-behind lawn mowers might do the job okay. They can either be push-behind or self-propelled ones; powered by gasoline, electrical energy or batteries.
If the lawn/yard dimension is medium, i.e., neither extremely huge nor significantly tiny, you could want to make an addition of riding lawn mowers to your stock of tools and equipment. A very powerful function to be kept in mind at the time of buying them is their hp value, generally in the limits 17 hp to 21 hp, which might be responsible for the velocity they do their job with.
If the dimensions of your holding still continues to be bigger, you may think of including a lawn tractor or else a garden tractor with a better horse power within the range of 22hp to 28hp to your lawn and garden equipment.
A robotic mower runs by itself and does not require human help at any level to operate.
